My 6 months training here in Nebraska are almost up! Time to start planning for client horses back home in Texas again. I will be taking client horses in the beginning of September. I am located in Brady, Texas. I specialize in starting colts and putting a foundation in them where they can go any direction. All colts get started with round pen work, where they learn about responding to pressure, paying attention, respect, and driving skills. After graduating from the round pen and being desensitized, off to the trails. Colts are ridden in the pasture before taking any steps in an arena. Out there they learn how to place their footing on different types of ground, become exposed to cattle and sheep, as well as random wildlife, riding up and down obstacles and trials, helps teach horses to trust you when they are unfamiliar in their surroundings which can apply to so much later in life at the rodeo grounds. I ride a lot with my legs, body, and voice. After colts have a good handle, can hold leads, counter circles, soft and responsive in hips, ribs, poll, and shoulders is when I will start them on the barrel pattern or send them home to start a future with their owners.
