My 91 year old mother in law, Cleone, is fully conscious and even - TopicsExpress

My 91 year old mother in law, Cleone, is fully conscious and even when on oxygen uses her available breath call call out an make demands that she be taken away from the facility her son with Power of Attorney has placed her in. She is a sentient being, and she is angry at her treatment and wants it to change while she waits and waits to go back to a nursing home she liked, or to her own empty house in Santa Monica. But her son says she has no capacity to make decisions, and her lawyer says the same. Nonetheless she sounds totally fine to me, except for when she is exhausted. She lost the ability to speak not long ago, suffered a stroke and pneumonia. Now her memory has returned. You should have seen her face when my wife returned from the house where mom sent her to retrieve her check book and her purse and ID. All gone. But Cleone remains intact but slowed by old age and hopelessness. Even so, weak as she is, she has asked me and my wife to use our imaginations to get her out of the micro dementia house shes been placed with basically catatonic patients, with nobody to talk to, and those who control her money far away. My wife feels more and more helpless. Thus I have started a page ELDER LIVES MATTER for my mother in law and me and all the rest of us Americans who might have our lives diminished or extinguished by those who has civil rights, and deserves to be without pain or fear or anxiety at this crucial time in her life. Cleone told her daughter: You are my last hope. And since my wife can use some help, I am helping as I can, and also seeking professionals quickly as possible. Cleones lawyer David Shacter is at david@shacterlaw if anybody wants to ask him to help his client. There can be no conflict of interest in the ethical treatment of elderly clients.
