🗽 My American Saga 🗽 It all started with 🇺🇸American Dream... when my late father, WW2 Veteran USAFFE Sgt. Perfecto Lloa Ranara become naturalized back in 1992, He had this big dream for me to be able to come here in America and pursue my dreams...but his untimely death on 2005 prompted this and my dream to come here . Nevertheless, I still look for a way to come to America legally and that is through H2B which is Temporary Non -Agricultural Workers a program allows US employers or US agents who meet specific regulatory requirements to bring foreign nationals to the United States to fill temporary non agricultural jobs, normally in Hotels and Restaurants ...I got to find out myself through Global Unlimited, a recruitment agency in Malate, Philippines which has a connection with ITN - International Trainee Network based in Los Angeles, California whom Hyatt Grand Champion now, Hyatt Regency in Indian Wells , California is one of their employers who primarily sponsor hotel staff for an H2B program. We Filipinos are known to be people who can endure all hardships for the sake of our families. I know that for almost all of us who goes abroad besides tourism our main reason is to earn money and I am not excluded in that reality, especially being a single Mother of two kids. By Winter season October 1, 2007 - June 2008 till Summer season July 2008 - September of the same year, it was a smooth rewarding contract as I got to work to both very prestigious hotels in the US namely Hyatt and Sheraton as Front Desk Agent or Associate in different States , Indian Wells California and Steamboat Springs, Colorado . Then suddenly my nightmare begins when by end of the Summer Season of 2008 we were just dropped like a hot potato by our US agent ITN for reason that they can no longer extend our visa or I -94 for 3 more seasons to complete the 3 years stay duration of an H2B worker. It was a very challenging circumstance in my life.as I come here in good faith to work and respect US labor laws. Holding on to the thought that I cannot go back home and start all over again meaning a full 360 degrees back to zero and it is scary knowing that I still have so many loans to pay, worse the dim future of my children. A big question pop out ...What will I do now? what will happen to me? Now tell me do i need to answer this questions? Not just a big nod but eventually act on it and by browsing the internet I come across a pure devil in disguise- a Labor Trafficker named Giant Labor Solution Inc. based in Kansas City, Missouri By October of 2008 until I escaped here in New York, It is the time I experienced the traumas, the threatening, the discrimination and for real my first ever car accident and significantly,being taken advantage of financially!!! When I come to New York 3 years ago I chose to have an amnesia and forget everything that occurred in Casper and Douglas Wyoming where I was labor trafficked. But even though I have so many plans living in Big Apple , God does not mind checking in and brought me to a non profit organization named Safe Horizon and just as Im about to lose hope ... they help me collect myself continue to be a good person as I can be and now brings out the best in me, learn to trust and cooperate and instill me with this thoughts that...🌻 Be strong enough to stand alone, Smart enough to know when you need help and be Brave enough to ask for it! As I continue this saga now that my two offspring were already with me with the help of AALDEF or Asian American Legal Defense and from the loving support from IOM or International Office Migration of both Makati ,Philippines office and Washington, DC Headquarters. As they arrived eight months ago,from being a Labor Trafficked Survivor Woman to a Single Mother whom facing multiple challenges on a daily basis is a norm. As a Big 🍎Apple Resident ... an inspiring tagline would be ... Life is definitely indeed a Subway !!!🚉 with the ups and down the travelling from 🚇Uptown passing 🚊Midtown till Downtown 🚋 and with almost 500 stations to transfer ... while busy 🎶🎵humming the lyrics that country jungle where dreams are made of 🎶
