My Announcement Let me tell the international community that the coup detat in Thailand is a political necessity -- the last measure to break a long impasse which could potentially lead to violent confrontation among conflicting parties and instability in the region. -- We regard unfriendly reactions towards our attempts to resolve our political problems as unwarranted interference in the internal affairs of Thailand which is a sovereign state. -- The coup is not violent, most Thai people welcome the action, and without bloodletting. It is designed to end chronic conflicts and protracted political rallies which could snowball into chaos and a civil war. -- Thailand may review the relationships with countries which have condemned the coup. Thai political problems must be resolved by a Thai way and that traditionally included a coup as experienced more than 17 times in Thailand. -- We want to remind you that Thaksin Shinawatra, a fugitive criminal who has enjoyed protection and shelter in many countries, is a serious problem -- a major cause for a coup in 2006 and the latest one. -- Thaksin and his pack of political criminals are the root cause for massive corruption and instability in political, economic, social, and moral areas, among other things. The latest coup was staged to deal with his ongoing move to destabilize our beloved country and revered institutions. -- Countries which are friends of Thailand should understand our necessity. If you are not happy with the way we intend to resolve our crisis, you can choose to either be with us, or against us.
