My Bee story: I had gone to Illinois to visit family, and I - TopicsExpress

My Bee story: I had gone to Illinois to visit family, and I fell in love with the place so I decided to buy a house there. Although I loved the property, when the neighborhood was established the core of army engineers made the property slope so the rain water would channel off into the nearby irrigation system. Now anybody who knows me will tell you that if I am serious about a project then I will hire a crew to help me get it done. If not then it is a project for some day. so i was outside doing yard work when I noticed several bulldozers rolling down the street. One by one they stopped in front of my house and thats when I noticed that each of them was hauling a load of dirt. My sisters boyfriend who owned a construction company sent it as a gift hearing I wanted to level the back of the property. I had thrm dumpnit at the side of my driveway and there sat my miniature mountain for several weeks (ok, months). So one day I go out to mow the lawn when I noticed a couple wasps flying around, land on the mound before vanishing into a little hole. So I go get the garden hose and lay it on the mound hoping to flush them out and discourage any planned shenanigans. The steady stream of water found a couple of the holes and the water kept filling and filling and eventually I stepped closer and with the toe of my shoe pressed the mound. The whole side caved in revealing a gray hornets nest the size of a watermelon. Thousands of bees swarmed, more arrived from their expeditions and my first instinct was to run to the garage and grab the lawnmower gas can. I doused the nest and sides of the mound, lit my pack of matches and tossedmit and before the booklet hit the ground *woosh!* an inferno that licked the underside of the trees. And thats when it happened. I noticed a stream of flaming water run down the side to the tall grass I hadnt weeded from along the fence, igniting it. The water trailed along the fence catching it on fire and continued diwn the slop of the property, catching everything it encountered on fire. I yelp, I ran in place not knowing what to do. My immediate reaction was to grab the garden hose and start dousing the the flames before it donned on me that that is what was causing this catastrophe. I ran to the house, by this time the trail of water had made its way to the open garage and with no cordless I could only wait on the phone until crews arrived instead of checking on my new vehicle in the garage. Within 10 min it was over. As I stepped outside I sww the smoldering section of fence, the charred grass, the melted siding on the garage and the buckled paint on the drivers side door of my vehicle. The crews left and I went inside to call my insurance agent. A couple days later I was backing out of the drive way to go get my truck repainted and as I was backing out thats when I noticed it, a bee hovering above the mound before landing where it crawled into a small hole.
