My Birth Story Part 3: I felt so connected and in tune with my body and with my baby. It was like this dance that we were doing together… His spiraling downward movement combined with my gentle stretching and opening. I can honestly say that it never felt like something that I wasn’t going to be capable of doing. It never felt too painful or too intense. I believe in the power of natural childbirth and in our body’s wisdom. I also could feel my child’s intelligence within me and knew that his body was doing what it needed to be doing and that he would be born in the perfect time and in the perfect way to support his life’s mission and soul’s purpose. Never once did I consider transferring to the hospital. The home environment felt so peaceful and sacred. We had created a beautiful birthing nest and I had my Guy, our doula and 2 others present who were providing us all with support. It felt like exactly how it should be and that we were all in it together and helping each other. Things picked up again after 2pm and I got back into the birthing pool. I could feel my son’s head dropping through my birth canal and at some point I was able to reach down and feel the top of his head so I knew we were close. And when my baby’s head was starting to crown, I actually heard the words of Johnny Cash song in my head as he described the “Burning Ring of Fire”. It’s true. It Burns, Burns, Burns… The Rings of Fire. (to be continued)
