My Christian-ness means that I have a hope of life eternal and that I live in a way that exemplifies that hope. It doesnt mean that I think youre a bad person. Truth is, we all are. We could all get things a little better, a little more right. A lot more right, to be honest. The only difference between us is that I have a belief in the truth that until now you have rejected, for your own reasons, whatever they are, even as I once did. I have lived a life full of the agony of my wrong choices and regret, even as some of you do; quietly, and seemingly in control, yet utterly forlorn and disheartened by the emptiness of it all. The lack of understanding. The hurt. When circumstance had crushed me into a corner of hopelessness, the only voice I could hear was His. And I believed, and believing, I was freed. So there is no haughtiness in my stance when I say that I love Christ, or that I am a Christian. No big Is and little yous. I love all, and hope that all can come to know Him for who He is. I wont judge you for where youre at, because I know where I was when He found me, and ofttimes I have found myself in more unsavory places than the ones Ive observed in the lives of others. I like to imagine that were both in the ocean, both near to destruction. I simply have an unsinkable life preserver to cling to. Knowing Him has never failed me, neither will it ever. And I can rest assured that He will keep me safe until such time as all waves are calmed, and all turbulent seas made to rest.
