My DC people will appreciate this story of metro transit - TopicsExpress

My DC people will appreciate this story of metro transit (particularly Amy Crofoot and Joseph Ames, who can appreciate SoCal and DC geography).. Flying out of Long Beach today, I was really looking forward tithe adventure of metroing down from my hood to the LBC airport. It was going to be a nostalgic adventure to take rail-rail-bus for 90 or so minutes with a weekend backpack slung over my shoulder. The false sense of easy independent travel is still a sense of freedom. I still think I budgeted enough time to get to the gate, but apparently catching the bus that I did was just THREE MINUTES TOO LATE for my flight. I could see the staircase had already pulled away from the plane (though I still am positive i could have leapt the gap). Much like riding the metro, I havent missed a flight since college (as if I ever should have). Since the reschedule was for free, ok, Ill eat the loss. But then, when I instinctively board the bus home at the same place where I disembarked, not realizing that IM CONTINUING THE DIRECTION AND NOT DOUBLING BACK AS I SHOULD, well, thats when I decide that my nostalgic appreciatio for riding public transit has been satiated for, hrmmm, the next decade or so. As I write this, I am now at the Norwalk Civic Center. I see a lit marquee for a Bingo Club. I am told this bus will double back to my blue line connection in about an hour or so. And we have now gone past that same Bingo Club again.... For your listening pleasure: youtu.be/ygH9boqc7Fo
