My Dad was drafted in the Vietnam war. He was 18 and had pretty much been on their farm his whole life. I cant imagine how my grandmother felt. I read the letters and it was devastating. My mother was 17 and he was 18 when they married. She even stayed in Germany with him- which is where I was conceived. She came home had me and my dad didnt get to see me until I was 6 months old. My mom said, he was different. After reading letters and finally having him share with me - just a few years ago- what he witnessed while stationed on the Saigon River - I know why he was different. Devastating. My prayer is that we realize the true sacrifice that is paid for us- God bless ALL.
