My Dan Gilbert Dilemma: Based on all opt the info that has come out about Gilbert and how he went to Miami to apologize and make it happen/reconnect with LBJ, I stand corrected on most of my views on him. I still have issues with the fact that he left that letter on the Cavs sight until last week, but to see an owner apologize (even if its in his best financial interest) is a big thing. And I applaud Gilbert for doing that and showing that he is not the person that I felt/thought he was. Gilbert proved me wrong. That was a stand-up guy/big man move. (And a big man move for LBJ to apologize for his part and to find forgiveness) Never saw that coming, never thought a professional team owner would do something on that level. With that, I can easily say that I was wrong. And If LeBron and his wife dont forgive me (as people here have said they shouldnt) for comments made about not respecting them if they were to go back to Cleveland under the current circumstances, I totally understand. I can live with that. But they must understand my comments were based on them having no conversation/interaction with Dan Gilbert. Had I known then (and had Gilbert not lied and said he had not spoken with LeBron and was not in Miami to speak to LeBron and it wasnt until a week ago that he pulled his letter off of the Cavs site, etc.) that Gilbert initiated the move to apologize and that they all sat down and cleared the air, then I would have never made the comments that I made about LBJ or wife. That changes the whole dynamic, changes everything. I just didnt feel the LBJs wife should encourage him and the family to go home and play for someone that disrespected them the way that Gilbert did. Thats all. But based on the way the entire situation flushed itself out, I am happy and proud for all of them. And I, again, stand corrected on what I said. I was wrong. But only b/c my feelings were based on the information we all had at that time. Had I known different, then I would have said/spoken differently.
