My Dear Elder Brother, benefactor and exemplar, Akindoyeni - TopicsExpress

My Dear Elder Brother, benefactor and exemplar, Akindoyeni Ayodeji, your comment on my post of 2nd July, 2013 and the advice thereto are really stimulating. You advised I should go to the grassroots to sensitise them(the unlettered) to the fortune lying ahead of them come 2015. Whether the advice is heeded now or later, the fact is that it can’t be discarded. I know you didn’t intent to underestimate the significance of the social media in relation to Sheba’s ambition because you are his right acolyte. From all perspectives, you’ve made a holistic suggestion−certainly worthwhile−that will further broaden the awareness. Social networking alone cannot do the work sufficiently. The unlettered constitute the majority but, as you already noted, they cannot access the internet nor communicate in English. This makes interpersonal sensitisation indispensable. In spite of these limitations, I am of the opinion that, internet remains a veritable avenue the elite can employ to propagate the ambition. Sensitisation at the grass-roots must be the collective responsibility of all well-wishers of Honourable Sheba and, unarguably, lovers of development. How much awareness can a single person make in Six Local Government Areas of the district? We should all be partners in making HAS (Honourable Abayomi Sheba) become SAS (Senator Abayomi Sheba). We should not forget the popular Yoruba saying: It is with the whole hand one beats the chest, a single hand doesn’t lift load up to the head (Agbajo owo la fi n so’ya, ajeji owo kan o’gberu dori). The elders of the littoral area of the State also have the adage that: He who is informed should tell him who deserves to know (Ogho gbo a fo n o’ghoma). These axioms epitomise the age-long democratic setting and the spirit of collaboration among the Yoruba; the wisdom in their sensitisation strategies and what is expected of us. The onus of making the unlettered aware of the good prospect lying ahead rests on everybody that is lettered. ─────Iwabi Modahunsi
