My Dear Yorubas, Lets Appreciate Ourselves I was in a cab last - TopicsExpress

My Dear Yorubas, Lets Appreciate Ourselves I was in a cab last night and the cab man was saying something about too many plazas and shopping centres in Abuja. I noticed the cab man was a Yoruba man (because of the tribal mark on his face) and decided to converse with him in Yoruba. He was like na wa o, because i had seen the signboard on his face (the tribal mark) that was why i decided to speak Yoruba. He told me he doesnt like showing he is a Yoruba man (which made me dumbfounded). I asked him why? He said people believe Yorubas are dirty (as shocking as that was, i still managed to laugh in pidgin) he continued that Yorubas dont love nor help one another. Those reasons are lame and flimsy to be. I was mad and baffled at the same time. For some reasons, i decided to change the topic. Yoruba is a language that is recognised and accepted even in the western world. Just yesterday i was in the bank and i saw a ten Naira note. Just then my consciousness went to the icon on it, Alvan Ikoku. I have been spending this Naira note for ages but never heard nor knew what Alvan Ikoku did to warrant him to be the emblem on our ten Naira notes. I remembered Google is my friend, and Google sure explained what i needed to know. But one thing i noticed, the details about him is also available in one Nigerian language: YORUBA. I was glad inside me. On the Google market only Yoruba bible was available. The Nigerian dictionary on same Google market had Yoruba dictionary on display I love to be known
