My Disciples Indeed John 8:31-32 Gods will for the believer - TopicsExpress

My Disciples Indeed John 8:31-32 Gods will for the believer in this age of grace is summed up in the commission that Jesus Christ gave to His disciples prior to His ascension. They were to commence the task of preaching the gospel in all the world, baptizing (an ordinance of the local church) those who received the gift of salvation, and teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you (Matt.28:19-20). This was the Masters decree. A true disciple of Christ is known by his obedience to Jesus commandments-obedience to the inspired, apostolic doctrine given to the church as found in the written Word of God. No one can rightfully claim to be a disciple of the Lord and simultaneously minimize the importance of sound doctrine in ministry. Our Savior is glorified only when His Word is faithfully taught and subsequently obeyed. True disciples of the Lord Jesus-My disciples indeed (v.31)-are characterized in todays text as those who continue in (walk daily on) the path of obedience to the revealed will of God as found in His Word. To neglect any part of that inspired revelation or to interject the strategies or philosophies of men alongside Gods truth is strictly forbidden by the Lord. Spiritual freedom to live and minister in the fullness of the Holy Spirit is predicated upon (continuing) in (Christ Jesus) word (vv.31-32). Many who name the name of Christ today have the strange notion that to judge all things according to the sound teaching of the Bible stifles or hinders the enabling and blessing of the Holy Spirit. Not so! On the contrary, the Spirit of God will never guide the true disciple away from obedience to the Masters Word in any area of life.
