My Dog Walks in Front.. There have been a few recent posts about dogs that walk in front of their owners but still obey requests for changes of direction and also respond instantly to recall etc. This is not a cause for concern, in the natural world, the leaders do not always run in front, they leave that to the more energetic and enthusiastic members of the pack. However, the leaders do dictate where the pack goes and when, so if your dog is walks in front but is still responsive to your requests, you are in control of the situation. Do not confuse this though with the dog that runs off where it pleases and only responds to any requests, eventually and in its own time; that is a problem that needs rectifying.
