My Easter Message Continues. I noted yesterday that when the Israelites murmured against God and His servant Moses, He sent fiery serpents to bite them. Consequently, the victims died shortly after snake bite. When they prayed, God told Moses to cast a bronze serpent and mount it on a pole. A victim was instructed to look up at the bronze serpent and he would not die, but live. Some must have felt it sounded too simple and ignored it. They died as a result. Some others chose to plead for forgiveness or look for anti snake venom rather than look at the bronze, as a result they died. Jesus said that as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness so He would be lifted up so that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. Like the Israelites, some people will choose to ignore this simple instruction to their damnation. Some will choose religious exercises and some self-abasing exercises to earn salvation. Friend, as far as salvation is concerned, it is only by exercising faith in the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for mankind that we are saved. You needn’t do anything else to be saved; just believe and confess Jesus as Lord and you are saved. So simple, yet so true! Happy Easter, dear friends!
