My Essay i got an A on!!!!!! George Washington and the American Revolution By: Tyler Mckinney George Washington was born February 22, 1732 He died December 14th, 1799. George Washington was known as the first President of the United States serving from April 30th, 1789 to March 4th, 1797. George was also known as Senior Officer of the Army serving from July 13th, 1798 to December 14th, 1799 and he was Commander and Chief of the Continental Army from June 15th, 1775 to December 23, 1783 and also Delegate to the Second Continental Congress from Virginia from May 10th, 1775 to June 15th, 1775 and Delegate to the First Continental Congress from Virginia from September 5th, 1774 to October 26, 1774. George Washington was born in Westmoreland Virginia his father died when he was only 11. At age 17 he was appointed official surveyor for Culpeper County. With the money he earned he bought land in Shenandoah Valley in West Virginia. George Washington opposed the 1765 Stamp Act the first direct tax on the colonies. In 1767 it became Widespread. On May 1769 George introduced a proposal calling for Virginia to boycott English goods until the Acts were repealed. They were repealed in 1770. In July 1774 he had a meeting where the Fairfax Resolves was adopted it called for the convening of a Continental Congress with also many other things. In August he attended the First Virginia Convention which was where he was selected as a delegate to the First Continental Congress.
