My FB friends know I love opera. I got hooked on opera when I went to Europe with my father when I was 17 years old in 1969. When we arrived in Rome my father insisted that we go to the Rome Opera to see Verdis Aida in the outdoor amphitheater in the ancient baths of Caracalla. Aida is the grandest of the grand operas. I was totally blown away and Ive been hooked on opera ever since. When the opera opens the Egyptian general Radames sings a love song for Aida his Ethiopian princess lover who at the time Egypt was in war with. The aria is Celeste Aida (Heavenly Aida). This is the Italian tenor Nicolai Martinucci singing this aria in the outdoor amphitheater at Verona, Italy. The audience ovation is so overwhelming that Martinucci breaks character to acknowledge it. Very rare for an opera singer to do. https://youtube/watch?v=MZKgmtEEqQ4
