My FB newsfeed is filled with expressions of grief over Robin - TopicsExpress

My FB newsfeed is filled with expressions of grief over Robin Williams death. As someone who was in the public eye its easy to feel we somehow knew him, and the sadness felt over the world losing someone who brought such joy to others is understandable. A few of the posts Ive seen are bringing attention to the fact that Williams struggled with depression/bipolar disorder, and Id like to think he would be glad that such an important (and often overlooked) public health issue is getting attention. What is disturbing to me is that the passionate outcry of emotion over his death on my FB newsfeed is a thousand times louder than the outrage over the atrocities going on in this country and around the world. Eighty-six (thats 86!) people die from gun shot wounds EVERY DAY in this country. More people die each year from gun-inflicted wounds (335,609) than the ENTIRE POPULATION of St. Louis, MO (318,069). usnews.nbcnews/_news/2013/01/16/16547690-just-the-facts-gun-violence-in-america?lite And then theres ISIS and North Korea, just to name a couple... Dont these people deserve the same passionate response?
