* * * * * * * * My Favorite Martial Arts Books * * * * * * * * Hard to narrow it to just 10 favorites so I don’t have a Top Ten list. I’m not as well-read as many of my peers. I have a long list of To Read books which I’ve not even dented yet. Although, this list is as advertised, my “Favorite Martial Arts Books”, it contains some that I believe can fall under the heading “Essential Martial Arts Books”. “Martial Arts” for me gets blurred with “Self-Defense” and as a result, you will see some ‘non’ Martial Arts books. You will see books on techniques, on history, on philosophy and martial arts-related books. I went the Chinese Martial Arts route and used one of the Magic Numbers … the Number 36. And even then, I kind of cheated with some of them as you will see. I am sure, this list may change once I read more books. Am weak in the Western Martial Arts, plenty of books there as you all can see from David’s post above. Some books on Duelling may make it to my list. I have Martial Musings by Robert Smith and flipped through it, it’s pretty good. Soon I’ll be reading it from cover to cover. Without further ado (in no order): 1.
