My Friday nite has involved spinning plastic rings and baseballs atop an empty Bustelo can, clapping and waving to stuffed animals, singing take me out to the ball game somewhere between 25 and 30 times, blowing fart sounds into a tiny laughing belly, chasing a progressively-quicker crawling machine, wincing as a dirty diaper was tossed from the changing table, cleaning regurgitated string beans, hiding under a light-up blanket with someone delightfully squealing in my ear, trembling with joy and impending fear as that same someone climbed the stairs for the first time in his life, watching Bruce Springsteen and seeing 10-month-old eyes gleefully recognize a Fender Telecaster. Friday for me is nearly over, while its just starting for many, but I dont care if they run into Andy Warhol and Jackie Gleason on Delancey Street: nobodys got me beat.
