Pizza de resistance Michelle Mazzara knows the odds of getting a show on Food TV are slim, but this is not the first time she’s been a long shot. Mazzara, of Eagan, won the eighth annual Cavit Gourmet Pizza Contest. “They are sending me and a friend to Italy in the near future to visit their winery in Trento, which is on Lake Garda. My winning recipe, Roasted Eggplant and Fresh Mozzarella Pizza, is in my new cookbook ‘Dolce Vita USA,’ available now on Amazon.” Mazzara, an independent rep who is Sicilian and has been to Italy before, said she beat “thousands of people from all over the USA who submitted their recipes. I’m an amateur but hoping this leads to bigger and better things. I am talking to the Food Network right now, but I don’t know if anything will happen.”
