My Friends, I have almost always had a drive to be in water. - TopicsExpress

My Friends, I have almost always had a drive to be in water. That being said, until last year, I had always been on the surface or just below the surface. Although it has always been a dream of mine to exist far below that. I have always been amazed at the sheer size of things most people never see there. When we see a huge fish caught by a local fisherman, we are equally amazed. I was diving only 20 feet below the surface in a fresh water lake here in Arkansas, a land well known by geologists to be an ancient sea bed, when I saw something of quite the opposing spectrum. I had to investigate this white object only the size of a dime. I moved toward it. There was not much sun on the surface because of a storm and rain that had recently passed over. Yet I could see it clearly, although it was quite translucent. As I moved closer, it was actually only the size of a dime and moving under its own power. This intrigued me further and I continued forward inches at a time. Before my eyes was a perfectly clear fresh water jellyfish. I hovered feet down, just a few feet from the bottom and stared at this miniscule creature traveling about its way, seeming as if it had no knowledge of my existence and despite the constant minute currents present all around it, it kept closing quickly, and opening ever so slowly, propelling itself in millimeter bursts. It reminded me of a flower blooming in reverse. It continued on its way never slowing or demonstating anything but resolve to arrive at some unknown destination. It simply continued on. As I think about this little creature for all intents and purposes has set a goal, my lifes difficulties become much smaller. Indeed, smaller than this apparently puny, all the while massive in its drive, simplistic animal. Dainty in both stature and ability to move, it remains on its path despite the obstacles in its journey. While overviewing this particular dive and realizing that I am equally as determined to reach my goals I am constantly reminded by this gorgeous planet of the icredible abilities we have at our disposal. Here is an animal that has overcome complete enviromental change, all the while continuing on a journey to a preset destination. Performing it all in miniature exquisite beauty, with pure elegance and grace. I return to my life and the difficulties become as they should be... Miniature. Blind No More - C.R.
