My GOD, Look at the vegetable prices, . . . . .Vegetable prices including onion prices are manipulated by vegetable mafia & farmers lobby. Dont imagine the men behind them to be poor vendor or starving farmer. The wholesale market is controlled by the politicians. Today, ironically (and it is sinister) the man with vested interests in these market is Sharad Pawar, the Union Agriculture Minister.( There are many more (dirty) connections but who cares? . . . If something as sweet as sugar could make us cry until recently, maybe the pungent onion is a lesser criminal! Like you say, earlier the onion brought tears to our eyes only upon peeling it. But I guess now it has become far more bold and shameless. It is not to blame, it is only emulating our Baboos & Netas.. . . . . :(
