It went down so fast the pilots did not have time to declare an emergency. No emergency transmission was sent. Even a catastrophic mechanical failure of all engines would allow time for a pan pan. 777s do not just fall out of the sky by themselves. In flight failures are virtually unheard of in this model. And such a sudden loss of contact, both radar and voice, indicates a sudden catastrophic break up of the aircraft at altitude. While its too soon to draw a conclusion, I suspect foul play.
