My Grandma Ann Hughes-Johnson, died last morning just after Midnight. She fell on Pearl Harbor Day and fractured her hip in five places. The following day after hip surgery she suffered a stroke to the other side of her body. Known as the Comeback Kid - this time it was all too much for her at 89 and finally wound down into Hospice at home day after XMas. She was pretty amazing - trigger smart, 60 hours towards a PhD in Quantum Mathematics; socially proactive against prejudice way ahead of most, marched with M.L. King and James Farmer in Chicago and DC Freedom March in 1963; rescued I dont know how many of her high school students over 20 years from dropping out and even propelled some to go to college mentoring them one on one, even her grandson.
