My Grandmother Whiteman once said the best appliance in the house was running water. (she had 11 kids). She is correct ... Today we now have water running into the storage tank, which runs water into the house. No windmill for two weeks (yup, if you calculate correctly, that occur right before Christmas). God stretched the water through holiday cooking, house guests, etc. then the water from the storage tank to the house froze during that blasted cold spell. Thus, showers were taken at Tedd N Jill Tatums. Thank God for men who fix the windmills which pumps water into storage tanks to the house and out the faucets. Homesteading (modern as it is) is the best. I cannot fathom how Joes grandparents raise 9 kids in a dug out during blizzards. NO indoor plumbing, no modern convenience at all ... Yet they did and raised children who were all extremely successful. I think I can safely say, I am not made of the same stuff they were ... What a heritage we both have! Alas, laundry awaits till tomorrow, but toilets can be flushed tonight ... 😃
