My Great Great Grandparents homesteaded land in Ellsworth Co. They built a house in the late 1800s. My Grandmother and Aunt Margaret were raised in this home. The outline of the house is still visiable where it was. I said WAS, because in the 60s it was sold and moved about 15 miles. Yep...just moved the whole thing. A Family member dug through records and found it. We drove through the back roads and went there yesteday. Dad, myself and my neice were brave enough to go in. I said Look Megan, books! Turned around...she was OUTTA THERE!! Dad found the staircase and started up. I just handed him my camera and said Push this button for pics and Ill stay here so I can go get help when you fall through the floor. The man has no fear. I zoomed in on that well. (I was expecting the girl from THE RING to come crawling out.) The people that own it now have used it for storage and I saw some treasures! Im all like CALL AMERICAN PICKERS!! I wanted to start opening chests and boxes but the fear of being attacked by God knows what... stopped me...and oh ya, NOT OUR STUFF! It was muggy and buggy and what a wonderful trip through the past.
