My Heritage, where do I come from, why am I here, where am I - TopicsExpress

My Heritage, where do I come from, why am I here, where am I going? First of all Ndelu/Madiba originates from Kzn, but I believe my great greater great grand parents (from my moms side) moved to Mzimkulu with their then chief and found land there. Because of the language, they changed from Ndelu to Ndzelu and most of my immidiate family are found in Mzimkulu, a place called Kwa Ndzelu. I was born there, then moved to Bizana when I was 10, and lived in Bizana till I was 16, however, I remember most of my life when I was in Bizana. I speak the Bizana language and I refer to myself as impondo, because that is where I go when I say I am going home By heritage I am not iMpondo, but can I realy say I am Bhaca since my immidiate ancestors were living in Mzimkulu? Ha a. No. Because they also came from Kzn. So technicaly, I am Zulu. As an African I grew up with a mindset that you belong to your fathers family. The guy who had my mom pregnant also grew up with his moms family emeXesibeni in EC but however his real father was Zulu.... I may have a really complicated family history as far as heritage is concerned, but that does not make me any less African. Where I come from may not be so clear, but I embrace what I can. I am a proud Mpondo girl, I know amasiko wesiMpondo (even though ekhaya if we did amasiko we would do awesibhaca, mixed nawesiZulu) But I will never let the confusion stop me from going where I am destined. I dont find it as a missfortune, but a chance for me to learn all the different cultures that are in my heritage... But I am still coming to terms with the complicated structure of my immidiate family, hence ndizitshiphele eGoli. But my life does not end here... Happy heritage day
