My Howell School family delivered a Sunshine Basket to me last week filled with all kinds of goodies! Every day I open a card or package and so far there have been so many well wishes and thoughtful gifts, including candles, gift cards to places to eat, homemade messages with inspirational thoughts, a beautiful bronze colored mum plant, candies and who knows what else I will discover as I continue the journey of surprises. As some of you know, after 5 months of therapy after my knee replacement, I fell and broke both bones in the same leg. I had a plate and screws put in and came home 5 days later back to my recliner and this time, a wheel chair. The doctor said I might not be able to bear weight on that leg until after Christmas. On Tuesday, I got the staples out and he said I might be able to go back to school in a wheelchair after Thanksgiving! Every day is a new challenge and Im still struggling with a lot of pain. Thank God for my wonderful husband who does unbelievable kind things for me (lifting me in & out of the shower nightly), brings me lunch every day, cooks meals after a long day at work; my daughters who cook for us, take me to doctors appointments, bathe my dogs and numerous other things; and last but not least, all of my friends at Howell and all over for the beautiful greeting cards, calls, prayers and words of encouragement!
