My Husband paid it forward today by giving some old cat a buck. - TopicsExpress

My Husband paid it forward today by giving some old cat a buck. Not much, I know. But it may have somehow made a difference in that mans life. Some folks are reluctant to give money due to existing concerns about how the money will be spent. This, however, shouldnt be a consideration. We have a moral obligation to help our fellow man irregardless of whether or not we approve of financial decisions, lifestyle choices, etc... Im not talking about being a constant enabler of someone who has an illness or giving repetitious handouts to those who are content to mooch off of you. What Im talking about is having enough compassion to avoid rushing to judgment and to lend a helping hand without forming assumptions from your high horse and without being preoccupied with where your dollar might go. Is it really that important where your dollar ends up? Even if that bum down the street really does use the money youve given him on a pack of cigarettes instead of a sandwich, what is it to you? Youve helped to put a smile on his face. His smoking habit wont mean the difference between a home and life on the street but it might make a difference between a happy bum and a bum whos lost all hope. The bum doesnt care about your $5,000 Visa bill, your $1,500 mortgage or the $600 car note you cant afford. He places no judgment on you and would just assume you keep all you have and acquire everything else that you want. He doesnt judge you. He admires you and views you as a reason to hope for better times. So dont judge him. Give the bum a buck. He needs it more than you.
