My Impressions of Jamaate Islami Shah Abdul Hannan Jamaate Islami was establishd in 1941 by Maulana Syed Abul Ala Maududi..The organisation has now workers and supporters around the world.It has also formed by now four independent Islamic movements in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sree Lanka. I came in touch with Jamaat in 1957 and observed its activities since then. It has produced a sizable literature on Islam.The main writers are Maulana Maududi,Khurshid Ahmad, Khurram Murad, Nayeem Siddiqi.It has produced some writers in India and Bangladesh also.Its literature presents Islam as a comprehensive and balanced Deen(ideology) which has solution for all human ills, it also answers all allegations and objections against Islam in a befitting manner. It has four point program to Islamize individuals, society and the state.The program is very balanced. Jamaat is a law abiding, constitutional, democratic movement.It is against all violence.It has fought against dictatorships and worked for restoration of democracy at various times.It has suffered many repressions in many times .It was once banned in India , the Indian Supreme Court declared the ban illegal.Similarly it was once banned in Pakistan.Pakistan Supreme court declared the ban illegal.In Bangladesh Jamaat remained banned from 72 to 78, later it was allowed to function. Ban or repression did not and can not stop Jamaat Shah Abdul Hannan
