My Jesus Daily..... Hebrews 8:7-9 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. But God found fault with the people and said: “The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord. Luke 22:20 says, “In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. Jesus is speaking to His disciples at the last supper before enduring the cross unto death for our sins. In this way Jesus became the only possible atonement for our sins. He is the doorway to this new covenant, one that is by grace through faith in Him. The issue with the former covenant was that people did not remain faithful to God. At a glance it appears that problem cannot be solved, but God answered people’s disobedience with ruthless faithfulness and unfailing love through Christ Jesus. Christ now serves as a “once and for all” atonement until He returns. All are invited to believe upon Jesus, our High Priest forever in God’s new covenant with us.
