My Journey and Fight to be a Survivor Starts: Thank you all for your wonderful comments, prayers, positive thoughts and outpouring of love and support! It is not easy to sometimes reach out and ask for help or support (especially if you are a fiery redhead) and it definitely was not an easy decision to share my story! However, my dear friend Donna Vanderkrake Labarr is a perfect example of why I felt compelled to open up! Doctors and healthcare companies will tell you that you dont have to have mammograms every year, or you dont need ultrasounds once you get older! They are so wrong! After a clear mammogram a year and a few months ago, to be faced with this diagnosis proves they are wrong! More importantly, do your self exams. I did and it may have saved my life! Whether you are 20, 30, 40, 50 or older, female or male......breast cancer does not discriminate between gender or age! It can hit females and males of any age! Early detection is key to beating this disease! Keep those prayers and positive thoughts coming!
