My Journey to Fight and Survive: Well, I will have a more - TopicsExpress

My Journey to Fight and Survive: Well, I will have a more detailed update of what has been going on since my last note about a week ago, probably tomorrow, but suffice to say that we have now gotten all the referrals and approvals by the HMO and the surgery will be a go on Monday at Porter Adventist Hospital at 1:00 p.m. Denver time!! Robb and I had a good pre op meeting with the plastic surgeon today. He answered a lot of questions that I did not have at our initial meeting as I was stilll in shock. He is pretty conservative compared to some plastic surgeons in his approach to reconstruction. He does not like to put in full expanders or even partially filled expanders initially as that can be the cause of infections or necrosis of the skin. If it is not for the good of his patient, he will not do it! One of the things he does do different is that he does not like to use gauze, bandages, or adhesive tape as that can cause issues in itself. He stiches on the inside but then uses a type of surgical glue (like crazy glue) for the outside. This not only protects the incisions, but also allows me to have a shower almost immediately!! That would be nice!! I have faith in the team that Robb has worked so hard to put together for me to help me fight, win and be a survivor in this battle!! Please keep the prayers and positive thoughts going, especially next Monday for the surgical and medical team, for the surgery to go well and for the cancer to not have spread to the lymph nodes. Thank you all for your love, support and kinds words, thoughts and prayers. All of us, but especially me, appreciate it!! And This Too Shall Pass and I will be a stronger woman for it!!!
