My Journey with the Youth: Molding the Mind, Building the Character and Inspiring the Spirit! For the last 30 years, I have had the chance to work with the youth...at home as we started rearing our 8 kids; speaking at the UST High School Parent Teacher Conference about The Joys of Parenting; delivering a Message to the UST High School students about the hazards of Bullying: The Silent Menace (delivered by my youngest daughter Athena Paloma as I was enroute from Tawi-Tawi to Zamboanga); speaking at a class symposium on Math Appreciation of another daughter, Agnes Phoebe, also at the UST High School about How I use Math as a Doctor; at school when I first started to teach at the UST Faculty of Pharmacy teaching Pharmacology, Anatomy and Physiology for 6 years; then on to the Faculty of Medicine at all levels teaching Pharmacology, Clinical Epidemiology, mentoring in Research; speaking at the 2012 Oathtaking Ceremonies of New Physicians as Guest Speaker after I was named the First Eric Nubla Awardee as Most Outstanding Professional for 2012 by the PRC; at the UST Hospital as Interns Coordinator teaching 120 PGIs the rudiments of leadership, time management, and mentoring them in qualitative research writing. I have had the chance to speak to them at the leadership conferences of the UST-FMS Medical Student Leaders speaking about Being Empowered; at the Congress of the Asian Medical Students Association (AMSA) International Congress hosted by AMSA Philippines speaking on Ethics of Research and at pocket seminars of AMSA-UST speaking on iTech: Research at your fingertips wherein I essayed the integration of technology in all research activities from conception to dissemination; at the Congress of Philippine Association of Campus Student Advisers (PACSA)on Benchmarking Best Practices in Community Engagement; speaking at the Joint DOH-DOST Science Fair on eHealth in the Philippines where students of a Cavite High School remembered me as their Speaker at the PACSA Convention and requested a photo onstage; at the 2014 Oathtaking Ceremonies where I attended as President of the Philippine Medical Association and many more. Then again, now at the World Medical Association Convention in Durban, South Africa...I have the opportunity to meet with medical students of South Africa, Mishka Karsan and Divania Ponnen who are leaders of the South African Medical Students Association (SAMSA); Chiaki Mishima and Kazuhiro Abe of the Junior Doctors Network (JDN) of Japan and Agustinho Souza, the President of the International Federation of Medical Students Association (IFMSA).
