My Kindle Book Hacked. Dear Hearts, If you bought the Kindle version of my book, Life Without Mercy, you no doubt found a little surprise around Chapter 48. An inappropriate photo of two teen girls in bikinis. This offensive shot was placed in the book as an embedded hidden photo in a DOC file. I have reason to believe this was done as an act of revenge by one (of possibly two) people I hired to work on the technical/computer aspect of the book. Had some problems with both fellows after each was fired for non-performance and bs in general. I can assure you, the photo and placement did not come from me - for this thing to appear it had to be done step by step, intentionally. I would not endanger four hard years of work by putting garbage into the book. And it could not have been done by accident. But ultimately, I will have to take responsibility. I did not pay close enough attention to the proof (which loads at 1 page per 20 seconds on my computer - I sat through 100 pages, then went ahead and approved the proof, after all, the paperback version was perfect.) The person that screwed me was smart enough to place the photo deep into the text, assuming that I would not have the patience to sit through the entire download. Well, lesson learned: next time proof read carefully and dont p.o. the bastard techies I have to deal with. I apologize for the photo, sincerely regret it. In a couple of weeks Ill have a sanitary version of the book up, and Ill be glad to send a complimentary copy to anyone who would like one. If life wasnt complicated and the road not bumpy, the life and road would not be mine. Thank you for understanding.
