My Locknar Class conversion kit came in today. First impressions - TopicsExpress

My Locknar Class conversion kit came in today. First impressions are that the reviewer who said the saucer section is flimsy either had an early cast thats since been corrected or hes a bit more OCD than I am because I have no such issues. The decal sheet has more than just the two names of Locknar and Chicago in that review also so that must be updated. Some interesting names that I will save for the ships I intend to make once my Modular Models orders finally arrive. I still want to name this the Wasp so Ill likely have Jeffrey from JT-Graphics make the sheet with more names and get more use out of my custom decal order. I dry fit the secondary hull and pylons section to the saucer bottom and it fit nice and clean also unlike that reviewers experience. The second to last picture shows you the parts from the PL 1/1000 TOS Enterprise kit youll need to complete the model. Of course you could use the First Pilot parts instead for the nacelles if thats what you have leftover from another build. The last picture shows my changes to how the instructions tell you to build the model. Instead of a the clear sensor part on the bottom of the saucer Im putting on the saucer mounted deflector dish I got from Federation Models. I have few rules about building these models but one rule I will not waiver on is all Federation ships must have deflector dishes so if a model comes without one like this model I will add my own. Also I like to use these tiny flat sided gems in red, green, and clear instead of the plastic bits you push through the saucer and paint clear red and clear green. I just think they look better. They come in various sizes so you can use them on other scales besides 1/1000. Go to either Hobby Lobby or Michaels to find them. Thats yet another thing I learned from Scott Trusty.
