My Metamorphosis It’s the famine that killed the crops and grew the people. The storm that swept away the shores of uncertainty. The darkroom where it all developed, Where negatives turned into pictures. The wheel that spun this clay into craft, Around and around — a continuous process. Molding and shaping, breathing and becoming, The hands of potential break my prideful bones. I’ve been down this road before – I’ve become the bow that bends to the strength of Your arm. I am the seed that sprouts into brilliant color, That fervently follows the light from east to west. I am the proverbial coal under pressure… That denies defeat until I reflect Your radiance. I am the phoenix that comes out from the ashes – Time after time, I rise from the flame. I bear the weight of unraveling plans, Of a future of fear surrendered to Your hands. My strength is tested in this chaotic stillness And all my trembling breath can say is, “Thank You.” Baruch atah Adonai Eloheinu melech ha’olam, shehecheyanu v’kiy’manu v’higyanu lazman hazeh. -Abby
