My Monday Mass.... Show That Love .... And when Jesus was in - TopicsExpress

My Monday Mass.... Show That Love .... And when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table. But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, "Why this waste? For this fragrant oil might have been sold for much and given to the poor." But when Jesus was aware of it, He said to them, "Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for Me. For you have the poor with you always, but Me you do not have always. For in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial. Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her." (Matt. 26:6.14) There are many times motions of love fill our heart and we really want to show it but back away due to other considerations. One of them may be fear of being misunderstood. This fear of being misunderstood has killed many God-inspired motions of love. What would my family say? What would my friends say? What would his wife say? What would my husband say? What would the church say? What would the man or woman I want to show the love to say? By the time we let all these counter-emotions flood our thoughts, the divine motion would have been weakened. We sigh and move on to other ‘less controversial’ services. Poor us! We miss on God’s timeline. We revert to eternal obscurity due to our fear of momentary misunderstanding. Thank God for this woman of our story. You might think all these “Who knows what...?” did not come to her mind. They did, I can assure you. But the simple woman let the motions of love prevail over the fear of being misunderstood. She went forth and publicly too (just as she felt led to) to do the extravagant act of love to one who never asked for it. And sure enough, hell was let loose by the more mature and more spiritual ‘brethren’ and leaders. “Let us not use emotions to serve God. Let us use our head? Let us not waste God’s resources!” They are sermonisers. They become gratuitous counsellors and guides to those they think are irrational and immature. Jesus came to the poor woman’s aid. Praise God! He will come to you aid when you let flow out the motions of divine love channelled through your heart. He faced her accusers and answered them: Let her be! What have you all personally being doing for the poor? What is your own personal plan for the poor? Why must you condemn a woman who is using her own personal resources to show love to the God of the poor? Second, this woman has by letting God speak to her and acting out the motions of love welling up in her, become a prophetess! And if she is a prophetess, you all (my disciples) are turning into prophet killers! Finally, if you think this an winky emotional flash, you are dead wrong! This act of hers will live till eternity! The wise guys became the fools. The mature analysts became the immature simpletons. The Spiritual became the carnal! That will happen when people listen to their head and not their spirit. This happens when we become too mature and less sensitive to the Spirit and His promptings; when we deploy all our intellect and less of our spirit in the service of God. Don’t let us demonise feelings, brethren. If you feel the flow of love for anyone, go ahead and show it! It is God that put it there. After all, God IS LOVE and he that loves is of God. Show that love to the pastor, to the preacher, to the missionary, to the brother or sister! Yes, show that EXTRAVAGANT love! You may think it is a passing feeling but God knows is enduring opportunity. Show it! Let it flow!
