My Morning Paper-10th July, 2013- Much to do about nothing?. “Much to do about nothing “is how many Progressive Liberal Party supporters would have us view the remarks made by the Prime Minister during the recent Labor Day march when asked about the wearing of [party colors]. “I will always be sensitive to the fact that the labor union leaders play[ed] or ask for people not to wear colors [party colors] but they continue to do so and I tell them that whenever they are able to unite as a group we will unite with them as a group. As they continue their infighting among themselves and cannot agree to march together, we will continue to come out as a political organization and make our statement” The “Hon.” Prime Minister when asked about the wearing of party colors at the recent Labor Day March. It was my understanding that this march was for all ‘labors’ to unite for one day as one, no matter what your occupation is, no matter your union affiliation, no matter your party affiliation, this was/is my understanding but as the Prime Minister pointed out the different unions always disagree, I feel it would be the perfect time for a mediator of sorts and this is where I feel this goes wrong. My problem with the statement as made by the Prime Minister is this; I feel he should be a leader and leading by example and not a showing signs of a ‘follower’, seemingly being dictated to by popular opinion. If he [the Prime Minister] feels that it is best not to politicize the Labor Day march, as is intimated in this sound bite, then he should be a leader and, show some character about himself but in using the unions infighting as justification to politize the event is setting a poor example as a Prime Minister and as a leader. At this point in time I feel that he has conceded the point that he follows popular opinion instead of leading the country in a united front. Mr. Prime Minster, I ask that you lead by example and if you are unwilling to or just unable to then simply step down and walk away.
