My N.A.A.C.P. Experience Tonight The Bedford County NAACP invited - TopicsExpress

My N.A.A.C.P. Experience Tonight The Bedford County NAACP invited me to attend their Freedom Dinner tonight, and I must tell you that they are some people who are genuinely nice to me, and I felt a good reception from the crowd of more than 100 in attendance. Now I will say, the keynote speakers ignorance of history did not impress me by blaming the Republican Party for the failed progress of blacks, and believing that Lyndon Johnson had the best interest of blacks,This guy pointed out his disdain for black conservatives as well, and hailed Obama as a racial hero of some sorts. I can tell you, as I stood up to speak right after him, it felt good to look at him and say I must say, as an unapologetic conservative, I must say that I am not here to play politics and place blame, but I am here today, because I care about working together to solve our issues. To continue The responsibility of uplift rests on us alone, and I believe we are the only ones that can make our own path for success, not the government or anyone else It was nice to receive an ovation by a crowd that just, three minutes prior, cheered and ummmm hmmmm a gentleman who was trying to sell them on fearing the union and remaining loyal to the slave master. Like I have said before, I have never had an issue with the local chapters, because they do a good service.....when they are not infected with national ambition. It was good to meet new faces, and reconnect with old faces as well. ~ Mel Whitlock
