My New Year Message Everyday is a new year if considered against same day the following year - its same cycle of 365 days and perhaps plus a day on a leap year. So, theres always an opportunity to make resolutions everyday at anytime. Traditionally, the early days of January is the time people all over the globe reflect on their life the previous year. And join the bandwagon of cacophonous new resolutions. Sadly, 90 percent of new year resolutions are abandon few weeks into the year. Today is 6th of January, trust me, a lot have already hung their boots on their resolve to eschew the Cos90 aspects of their lives. The 1st January fever and flame to pursue dreams with vim and gumption is nearly almost extinguished. The remnants of these alit logs of resolutions, I can bet with my balls, are untraceable in the memory tracks of some aficionados of new year resolutions. To have used myself as a case study, the farthest my resolutions have travelled, is June. It normally keeps waning till the Yuletide for another waxing. Usually by December, I often cant put my memory on the resolutions I made previously. I always feel unfulfilled reminiscing and ruminating over the years events - the willy-nilly ones and those of mans conspiracy. The whole concept of new year resolutions is stupid and illogical. How can you plan how to live 365 days in one day, usually in a ten pointless points in a quarter of an A4. Making a resolution in January and living it through December is like taking one deep breath, and waiting to take another, a year later. My 2014 could pass for Journey to the West and I wish I could relay The Trouble in Heaven episode. If I were to write an autobiography, the salmagundi events of 2014 will yield enough pages to compare the Oxford dictionary. Nonetheless, Im not making a resolution. Ive extricated myself from that mundane wishful wishes of a fatuous annual ritual. All the uglies of my entire life, that I suppose, were to spread at reasonable intervals all visited last year. Advisedly, I now have the full rights over the saying, wetin man no see before? . Truly, experience is the best teacher. You cant fully appreciate it by empathy, you must feel it, as believed by Bob Marley. Our experiences are enough resolutions to us everyday. And how inimical is it to one who doesnt learn from it. I strongly feel that 2014 was fortification cum exorcism of my possessed self for my elevation in 2015. However, lets put things bluntly. It could be a year for your elevation too. But your elevation will be a mirage if you still accommodate bad memories of yesterdays, entertain soul-contaminating evil spirits and underpin yourself to the trivialities that pay no bills. I began my year with soul cleaning for smoother soul-searching. Ive deleted, erased and annihilated all files, memoirs and memorabilia in my heart, phone, laptop and tablet worthy of provoking pugnacious memories of yesterdays. No carry forwards except those that have a semblance of beneficence. The seemingly important faux pas of my 2014 was expectations. Wild expectations! In 2015, Im not going to expect anything. Zilch! Nonetheless, all contractual terms must favour me. At worst, I could go for a win-win. Im also making a rejig and little tweak to one of my principles - leaving people to their conscience. Overtime, Ive realised that some people dont have it. Leaving them to something they dont have is tantamount to flogging the dead horse. It will be my pleasure to spend my last cedi to get someone a conscience this year and maybe beyond - thats if its buyable. There are pretty darned certainties about my 2015. I wont spend today living yesterday. I wont waste a second to live someones life. I wont be a second image of a great somebody, I will be the first image of my nobody self. I will live in my own dreams and realities. Contention will be my catchphrase! Ive no new year resolutions. I shall make resolutions as many as the indicators in my life require with constantly reviewed goals. My resolutions will transcend mere words to include total scanning and quarantining of bugs, viruses and Trojan horses deleterious to my very software (mind) for smoother functioning of my system (life) without a glitch. Some doors that no longer lead to somewhere ought to be closed. Better be an egg today than a hen tomorrow. Whiles you wait, do something. PRAY!
