My Opinion Re: Opinion: “Jamahl Simmons A Flawed Politician” [Opinion column written by OBA Communications Committee Chairperson Toni Daniels] I just read this article or more correctly this toxic piece of bitterness, hate and fear. That’s right, TOTAL FEAR! Any “respectable” person that must spew out such venom, must be in total fear of a result they do not want. As a local Pastor, there will be times, I must publically make a statement or share my opinion. This is such a time. I am concerned, Why not “fight” fairly? Okay… yes, it is politics. Let me encourage the good people of Somerset to come against such venom and hate by NOT voting in favor of a group/political party that has to viciously attack the character of another candidate, without holding back. (And they are allowed to do so…SMH…) This article is shameful and such an article should be “pulled”. This article is super-FLAWED! I like to stand apart from both parties in a way that I am able to warn, congratulate and speak to what is occurring on both sides of the political divide. This article shows an outright boldness and lack of concern of the hate it resonates. Media is a powerful tool and when wielded by some can kill and cause permanent injury. With this in mind, I would run from this party; for it allows this. Bermuda is already divided and OBA permits such an article which will only cause a greater divide. The “relationship” that I have heard that the OBA desires with Bermuda’s people will not occur at this rate. Shameful article! Let me say, that while I will (most likely) have many differences in opinions when it comes to certain topics with Mr. Jamahl Simmons, that I have listened to the passion and knowledge that Mr. Jamahl Simmons has (because he has been in certain parties), and I consider him to be solidly for Bermuda.
