My Outer Space Connection With Mahalia Jackson. True Story! I was reminded of this yesterday. I really try not to think of it. Ok so a friend of mine is writing a piece for a Doctorate on classic african american singers. One of my personal favorites are Marion Anderson, whos autobiography I checked out of the Conestoga Elementary School Library at least 10 times. I just love the subject of these classic singers. I think I wrote at least 3 essays on her life. No for the person that I have a love/hate relationship with. Let me explain about me and Queen Mahalia Jackson. I dont know what it is or why, I cannot hear her voice and can barely look at her face without have a severe emotional reaction and I mean severe. Every once in a while Ill try to listen to her or look at her, but i just cant. Dont has me why. Im not even a spooky person. I didnt grow up in the Baptist Church. We were Catholic. No Mahalias up in there. But when my friend called to discuss the doctorate work, I heard this song in the background and had to hang up the phone. Im serious, like pretend like it disconnected. Must be some past life stuff. I have no idea. But the first time it happened to me I was in college. I was taking a Philosophy course maybe around my freshman year and heard her voice in a class lecture (I dont even remember the topic) and broke down crying. After class asked the professor who that was singing and he showed me the picture and I just walked off. It happened several other times after that and then everytime. Im done trying to explain it. Im including this clip, which I cant really listen to. If I suffer through hearing her voice, there is something about the way she hits the notes that does something to my internal frequencies that just freaks me out. I can make it through about maybe 20 seconds. And if I see her, I cant even look in her face. Its really embarrassing. Weird stuff but true. https://youtube/watch?v=gNoxoUX2vqQ
