My PC just had one of those wild moments where everything - TopicsExpress

My PC just had one of those wild moments where everything stopped...the screen turned blue and a memory dump started followed by a reboot. I began to analyse the situation and considered the various causes...My PC had been hijacked and operated outside of my control, hardware or software error failure or user error. I quickly grouped HW/SW error into the same category as Hostile alien abduction and put it down to user error. My Windows 8.1 is infallible. Watching all of this MH370 news and wondering where the hell is Boeing in all of this? Ive been associated with technology for over 30 years now and have came across the occasional computer meltdown. It does happen. However, the easiest option right now is to blame the very people that are unable to defend themselves...the Pilots. Every PR student out there should we watching this intently for how Boeing, the plane manufacture is handling this.....They are remaining quiet, not saying anything. Let everyone else come up with the theories just as long as it isnt a mechanical issue associated with the plane. Seems as though mechanical failure is just as likely as alien abduction. Well then, lets examine the options here and recognise the implicatons of each. Broadly there are 4 1. Mechanical failure 2. Pilot Suicide 3. Hijacking 4. Alien abduction/Another dimension/Twilight Zone stuff OK...Lets rule out 4 straight away and examine the other 3. A Hijacking is clearly the worst possible scenario in this case. That would mean that the perpetrators would have raised the stakes in combating terrorism far beyond what we have experienced in the past. Well beyond what was planned an executed as part of 911 and so we should really be very concerned about this option. Pilot Suicide is not out of the realms of possibility. Weve had Egypt Air and Silk Air as frightening examples of this. Even John Denver, a famous musician and Hansie Cronje, former South African cricket captain use planes as their means to exit this world and although it does frighten me the reality is that we do live with this every day. Every time we step into a taxi or on a bus, we put our lives in the hands of someone else. Someone we have probably never met before and may never meet again. Think about that. Im somewhat inclined not to believe this theory at all as it relates to MH730 though. In all other cases, the pilot just did it...he didnt fly around for another 7 hours or so. Mechanical failure....this is the one that Boeing does NOT want to be the cause. The implications for them would no doubt be enormous but the fact is that we deal with computers every day...and they do break down. We do see it all the time. Even Toyota finally admitted to an acceleration problem with one of their models just in the last few days. Id like to hear more from Boeing and have them on the chopping block a little more than what they have experienced so far. Where is the Boeing spokesperson being interviewed? Lets examine all of the options a little more.
