My Paternal 2X Great Grandfather. My great grandmother was born after his death at 24. Whew! That was a close one. Birth: May 2, 1841 Death: Oct. 5, 1865 Elam Cummings Robinson was a member of the 20th VA Cavalry and held as a POW at Rock Island Prison in Rock Island, IL Elam was a chaplain in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He was captured and released from Rock Island Prison in Rock Island, Illinois in apparently poor health. He traveled back to West Virginia to bring his wife and family to Bryant, Illinois because he thought he had a better chance for success there. He died a few months later and Almyra returned to Buckhannon, West Virginia and had her third child just 5 weeks after her husbands death.
