My Reiki Path... Almost four months after the death of my - TopicsExpress

My Reiki Path... Almost four months after the death of my precious soul mate in 2009, I was still overcome with grief. Physically my body ached all over and I felt exhausted as though I had been walking through mud. At the same time, inside it seemed as though every nerve in me was trying to jump out and run away. I have often heard the term “heartache,” but I was experiencing a physical heart “ache” so real that it felt like a lead weight in my chest. I was having several spontaneous crying episodes a day, never knowing when they would strike. I was isolating myself from others, feeling out of control of my life and like a failure for not being able to pull myself out of it. My medical doctor suggested that I take antidepressants to help balance my mood swings. While that sounded like a good idea, I had some reservations about medicating the natural feelings of grief over the loss of a loved one and was hoping for a more holistic approach. My daughter, who was enrolled in a Reiki apprenticeship program, but wasnt attuned at the time, had told me about Reikis stress relieving benefits. Truthfully it was a little hard for me to believe that something so simple could make a difference in the way I was feeling. Somewhat reluctantly, I brought up the subject of using Reiki to treat the symptoms of my grief with a therapist. Amazingly, she not only was familiar with Reiki but had studied it. After some discussion, it was decided that a good treatment plan for me would be a combination of Reiki, meditation, exercise and continuing sessions with my therapist. Being new to energy healing, I didnt know anyone locally who did Reiki, so I traveled 250 miles to Kentucky for my first session. During my first Reiki treatment, I experienced a sense of peace and calm that I had not known for many months. Physically, my heart rate and breathing slowed and I felt less tension in my body. Emotionally, I felt a relief from anxiety and a hope that I could actually recover from my grief. Spiritually, I felt a reconnection to God and the Universe along with a general sense of well being. After reading about Reiki and praying for spiritual guidance I decided to enroll in a beginning Reiki class so that I could give myself daily treatments. As I thought back over the long months of suffering that my companion went through with pancreatic cancer I realized how much Reiki would have helped him to cope with the anxiety, depression and physical pain of his disease. It would have also enabled me, as his caregiver, to have been more at peace during his illness. With this insight, I first felt a spiritual calling to teach Reiki to others so that they could also experience the blessings of peace that comes with the regular practice of Reiki. I became a Reiki Master in August of 2011 but I had a lot of self healing to do before I began teaching classes. The Universe gave me a clear sign July 2013 that I was on the right path when my Reiki teaching path began with one of my dearest friends who took the class to help someone with the same disease (pancreatic cancer) that initially lead me to Reiki ♥ It has been almost five years since the passing of my soul mate. When the time is right, I am looking forward to presenting Reiki to our medical community here in Knoxville, Tennessee. Reiki is becoming more widely accepted by the medical communities around the world for its relaxing, stress relieving benefits which also trigger the bodys own natural healing abilities. Reiki is used in the U.S. military for those returning from combat areas as well as in hospitals, hospices and mental health facilities. Reiki is a complementary treatment that goes hand in hand with other healing modalities including traditional medical treatment. Please feel free to share your Reiki path with our community if you feel so led. Blessings to You ♥♡♥♡♥♡♥ Sandy Sandy Evans Pullin, Usui Reiki Master/Teacher Member of the International Center for Reiki Training Reiki Balance N Bliss Knoxville, Tennessee
