My Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno experience. I entered the - TopicsExpress

My Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno experience. I entered the theater and nestled myself onto my seat and waited for the movie to start. Behind me are a couple of guys probably around my age or a little bit younger who were deep in pretty entertaining geek talk. Dont accuse me of eavesdropping, their voices were loud enough to be heard by the entire theater. But the movie hadnt started yet so they werent violating any of my personal cinema etiquette rules yet. Then their discussion went to the upcoming film and... they went into every plot detail to be expected from it. And I was there, not a follower of the manga and anime the movie was based on, front and center in the most epic spoiler fest in history. I tried my damnedest to shut them out but they were so loud! I regret being too nice a guy to punch the idiots right smack in their mouths. I came into the theater a total blank slate. And I felt that purity soiled ceremoniously. Of course, when the movie started they were initially very vocal in their reactions and I was feeling absolutely miserable. Fortunately, the movie was so good that the whole theater, including the spoiler pests behind me, got totally sucked into it. Yeah they shut up and even though I had become aware of what plot points to expect, the movie was just so good it eventually didnt matter. Bottom line: Hey, I love a good geek conversation. But there are times you need to curb your enthusiasm and STFU.
