My Story of Salsa in a few words... Before I started Salsa I didnt had a clue what it is, In fact I thought Salsa Merengue, Bachata is all the same Without knowing there was more... When I started by accident Salsa I didnt had a clue about the different styles, I only new one, two, three and tried my way through some basic turns... Without knowing there was more... When I started to enjoy more and more the music I loved Celia Cruz, Victor Manuel, Jose Alberto El Canario, Marc Anthony simply enjoying... Without knowing there was more... When I was in Cuba I admired the smile of the people and saw the Cuban Culture in Vieja Trova, Casa de la Musica, Live Rumba & Salsa on the streets... Understanding Salsa can mean a lot more ... When I was in New York in the old famous Copacabana Club thinking I can dance salsa I had lots of fun but nothing really worked on the dancefloor Thinking - ok I still need to learn more ... what is on 2 ??? When I was in Puerto Rico I learned lots of interesting things about the rhythms and history of salsa from an old experienced teacher for the first time I started to understood ... Ok there is really a lot more... When I visited my first Festival I was inspired by so many fantastic dancers filling the stages and dancefloors with their dance-passion starting to feel ... That music and dance together can mean a lot more... Passion! When I organized my first Festival it was and still is for one main reason: to inspire people to dance through the artists and the athmosphere! Without knowing how many festivals those would become one day... ;-) Today, Im still far away of knowing all about Salsa, but what I know is that Salsa is really Salsa, a Sauce, a mixture with so many different elements and influences starting from Afro, Rumba, Son, Danzon, Bolero, Cabaret, Cha Cha, Ballroom Dancing, Standard and Latin-Dances, maybe even Rock nRoll, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Merengue, Bachata... ... on 1 on 2 on Clave on whatever and of course all the fantastic musicians who create the music for us to dance and for sure many other things and influences... Whereever you are on your Salsa-Journey... stay curious, keep your passion and there will be always be more... ;-) See you at the dancefloor and never forget to smile :-)
