My Sudanese friend Amir Ahmad Nasr wrote this thought-provoking article on the rise of ISIS. He offers a unique perspective to be considered, and also offers a lot of valuable documentary clips, videos, and resources for those who would like to learn more about ISIS developments. Ive been paying more attention to the developments surrounding ISIS since moving to Turkey and being closer to the situation here. While I dont fall prey to fear mongering media, I do believe that the rise of ISIS is very serious and deserves earnest global attention. No matter where you are on the globe, I believe it is important to be informed about the situation in Iraq (and spreading across the Middle East) that I see quickly turning into a genocide. And the reverberations have the potential to be felt far outside the Middle East. This article offers a good jumping off point for getting an understanding of some of the complex issues involved.
